Schedule - Wednesday, November 6th, 2019 - New York City

Storytelling & Broadway Leadership Experience will be led and stimulated by a team that includes a wide range of professionals from the worlds of Workplace Development and Theater.

8:30 AM: Registration and Greetings – Green Room Club (42nd Street and 10th Avenue, NYC) which is located in the Yotel Hotel (42nd St & 10th Ave on the SE corner) Enter the hotel on the street level and take the elevator to the lobby level. Take a right off the elevator and follow the signs to the Green Room.

9:00 AM: Elliott Masie and Telly Leung will be the primary facilitators and interviewers. They will frame up a new and fresh approach to Workplace Storytelling – leveraging the experience, art, and science of theatre and Broadway.

We include highly experienced artists and creative leaders from Broadway to engage with our group in the morning portion of the Leadership Experience. These will include:

  • Broadway Author/Writer – on the structure of a story
  • Broadway Director – on the rehearsal, preparation, and feedback for great storytelling
  • Broadway Stage Manager – on the logistics of making a story happen in any context with changing audiences
  • Broadway Actors – on the stages of making a story come alive with words, context, emotion, and even a bit of music
  • Corporate Storytellers – examples (live and by video) of storytelling in the workplace
  • Storytelling-Goes-Viral Expert – to highlight the viral nature of storytelling in 2019

Noon: Lunch at the Green Room Club 42 with discussions about Storytelling in our organizations, our lives, and our families.

After Lunch: We will take a short walk or taxi ride over to the Susan & Ronald Frankel Theater at THE ROBERT W. WILSON MCC THEATER SPACE, 511 W 52 ST, NY, NY 10019

2:30 PM: “SEARED" -a new comedy by critically-acclaimed playwright THERESA REBECK (BERNHARDT/HAMLET) directed by Tony® nominee MORITZ VON STUELPNAGEL (MCC’s HAND TO GOD). Audiences will be up close to the action as MCC’s flexible Frankel Theater is transformed into the intimate kitchen of a New York City restaurant.

4:45 PM: We will have a post-show debriefing right at the theater, led by Telly Leung and Elliott Masie, as we process the Storytelling aspects of “SEARED” and explore the art, science, and techniques used by the actors and writers in the show.

And Beyond: Storytelling & Broadway Leadership Experience does not end there! You will receive video clips in the following weeks that will highlight the Skills of Storytelling and are invited into a community chat room to continue our discussions and explorations.

The Storytelling and Broadway Experience LAB left me inspired and excited to start telling stories more strategically at work. The impact of a well-thought-out story – when used for business communication – cannot be underestimated. As a professional, I feel re-fueled and energized as a result of the Broadway and Storytelling LAB.
