Storytelling & Broadway Leadership Experience will be led and stimulated by a team that includes a wide range of professionals from the worlds of Workplace Development and Theater.
8:30 AM: Registration and Greetings – Green Room Club (42nd Street and 10th Avenue, NYC)
9:00 AM: Elliott Masie and Telly Leung will be the primary facilitators and interviewers. They will frame up a new and fresh approach to Workplace Storytelling – leveraging the experience, art, and science of theatre and Broadway.
We include highly experienced artists and creative leaders from Broadway to engage with our group in the morning portion of the Leadership Experience. These will include:
Noon: Lunch at the Green Room Club 42 with discussions about Storytelling in our organizations, our lives, and our families.
1:15 PM: We will take a short walk or taxi ride over to the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on 45th Street.
2:00 PM: “Come From Away” –The award-winning Canadian musical set in the week following the September 11 attacks that tells the true story of what transpired when 38 planes were ordered to land unexpectedly in the small town of Gander, Canada. The characters in the musical are based on (and in most cases share the names of) real Gander residents as well as some of the 7,000 stranded travelers they housed and fed.
4:45 PM: We will have a post-show debriefing right at the theatre, led by Telly Leung and Elliott Masie, as we process the Storytelling aspects of “Come from Away” and explore the art, science, and techniques used by the actors and writers in the show.
And Beyond: Storytelling & Broadway Leadership Experience does not end there! You will receive video clips in the following weeks that will highlight the Skills of Storytelling and are invited into a community chat room to continue our discussions and explorations.
The Storytelling and Broadway Experience LAB left me inspired and excited to start telling stories more strategically at work. The impact of a well-thought-out story – when used for business communication – cannot be underestimated. As a professional, I feel re-fueled and energized as a result of the Broadway and Storytelling LAB.
